Abstract

This study documents the floral diversity of Tribhuvan University (TU), a significant urban green space within Kathmandu, Nepal. Field surveys employing the transect walk method were conducted in January and July 2024 to record annual, biennial, and perennial plant species occurring within the study area. A total of 276 species of vascular plants belonging to 213 genera and 89 families were recorded, with herbs constituting the dominant life form. Despite covering a relatively small area of 154.77 hectares, the university supports rich floral diversity and serves as an important practical learning site for students. Urban green spaces harboring such high plant diversity should be prioritized for conservation, ecological research, and sustainable management.
