Training Workshop on “Basics of Research” for Undergraduate Healthcare Students: Participants' Feedback

Abstract

Background and Objectives: The training workshop on the basics of research is vital to inculcate research skills among novice undergraduate medical students. For this purpose, Bilawal Medical College, Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan, organised a one-day training workshop. Assessing the feedback of the participant students is critical for better organization of such training workshops in future.

Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in August 2025. The objectives of this study were to 1) report a brief account of the Training Workshop and 2) assess the feedback of the participants. A valid self-administered questionnaire was used for the feedback. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 23.

Results:  The perceived level of knowledge and understanding of participants regarding “Research”, “Primary and Secondary Research”, “Quantitative and Qualitative Research”, “Research Study Designs”, and “Steps for Conducting Research” has significantly (p<0.05) enhanced after participation.

Conclusion: Participants' perceived reaction to attributes of the workshop and group work session was positive. The training workshop enhanced research capacity perceived by the participant students.
