This paper attempts to examine how conservatism and overconfidence influence investors’ investment decisions in Nepali share market.

Design/methodology/approach - The research followed the questionnaire method where structured self-monitored close questions were surveyed from 335 respondents via internet. To analyze the data, SPSS software was used, and to test the direct effects of the hypotheses, covariance base analysis (CB-SEM) was applied.

Findings and Conclusion - The outcomes of the regression analysis depict that the conservatism of Nepali investors has a considerable positive impact on their investment decisions. It has also revealed that overconfidence had an insignificant role in investment decisions, which indicates investors do not show overconfidence while investing in the stock market.

Originality/value - Conservatism and overconfidence of stakeholders in the share market by applying behavioral theory in Nepal are largely unexplored. Because it is one of the few studies that examine the influence of conservatism in Nepal, this study occupies a precarious position in Nepali research on investment decision in the share market.
Bishnu Giri, Sagar Adhikari Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Emerging Management Studies https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/jems/article/view/60160 Fri, 24 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Impact assessment of investment motivation toward mutual funds https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/jems/article/view/60161
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of investment motivation on mutual fund investment decisions by Nepalese investors. The research seeks to identify the key drivers that influence Nepalese investors’ decisions in this context.

Design/methodology/approach - The research design employed in this study was a descriptive and causal comparative research. The primary data was gathered from individual investors who were actively involved in trading on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). To assess respondents’ perceptions and factors influencing investment alternatives, a structured questionnaire survey was used. The sample size consisted of 384 participants, and they were selected through judgmental sampling technique.

Findings and Conclusion - The research findings revealed that while there was a growing interest in mutual fund investments among Nepalese investors, there was a lack of awareness and understanding about these investment vehicles. The paper found that investor awareness level, fund manager qualities, risk perceptions, and fund performance positively affected mutual fund investment decisions in Nepal. These factors played an important role in determining investors’ preferences and choices. The regression model demonstrated a good fit for the data, explaining 55.8% of the variation in investment decisions. The study also emphasized the significance of effective selection and monitoring processes for mutual fund schemes, including evaluating fund managers’ performance and assessing the risk-return profile of different options.

Implications - The findings implied the need for transparent reporting practices, access to reliable performance data, and investor-friendly policies. Policymakers should streamline regulations and create a favorable environment for mutual fund investments. These implications can contribute to the overall development of the capital market in Nepal by attracting more investors and fostering investor confidence in mutual fund schemes.
Dinesh Mani Ghimire, Madhav Adhikari Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Emerging Management Studies https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/jems/article/view/60161 Fri, 24 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Examining the interplay of employee brand love, affective commitment, positive word of mouth, and turnover intention https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/jems/article/view/60162
Purpose - The purpose of this paper was to examine the interplay of Employee Brand Love (EBL), Affective Commitment (AC), Positive Word of Mouth (PWM), and Turnover Intention (TI) among employees of different organizations in the service sector.

Design/methodology/approach - This research study employed a cross-sectional survey research design and utilized a purposive sampling technique to collect data from a sample of 251 respondents. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that AC serves as a partial mediator in the relationship between EBL and both PWM and TI.

Practical Implications - This study could help managers to better understand especially how brand love of employees affects employee intention to leave the organization. It might help to increase the likelihood that employees will love their organizational brands and, as a result, design branding strategies to strengthen the organizational brand in order to draw in new employees and promote organizations.
Rijma Shrestha, Laxman Pokhrel Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Emerging Management Studies https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/jems/article/view/60162 Fri, 24 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Appraisal of labor management approaches within the private residential construction firms in the Kathmandu Valley https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/jems/article/view/60163
Purpose - The purpose of this study was to investigate labor management practices in private housing developers in the Kathmandu Valley.
