Abstract

Mithila Architecture, found in the Mithila region of India and Nepal, showcases the rich cultural and artistic traditions of the Maithili people. This paper explores different types of Mithila Architecture, focusing on their unique features and cultural importance. Traditional Mithila houses are known for their distinct features such as mud walls adorned with vibrant wall paintings, thatched roofs, and intricate wood carvings. These houses are not only aesthetically pleasing but also built using sustainable practices that harmonize with the local environment. The findings of this study indicate that Mithila's architectural style is closely linked to its culture and everyday life. The traditional architecture and artistic elements of Mithila houses reflect the daily lifestyle, customs, and cultural identity of the Maithili people.
