Student's Perception Regarding Quality of Public Service Marketing on Service Delivery

Public Service Marketing has been used as game plan to enhance service delivery in the public sector. A gap has been seen in using quality service dimensions and public service marketing concept for enhancing service delivery in public sector. This study therefore assessed the citizen’s perception regarding the quality of public service marketing on service delivery in public sector of Nepal. Special references have been taken from students studying master degree in Management at Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhara. Descriptive and quantitative research design has been employed for this study. Out of 180 total populations under study, 50 samples have been taken by using simple random sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires using Google Form. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26 statistical tools. Quantitative statistical results were analyzed. The practical implications is to assess the perception of citizens i.e. students of master degree in this study towards quality service delivery and customer satisfaction. The study revealed that the perception of students towards quality service delivery and customer satisfaction is different among the groups but there have been positive impact of quality of public service marketing factors on service delivery with customer satisfaction. However, overall perception towards the service quality and satisfaction is not good. Additionally, easy access to service and good behaviors of employees in public sector were deemed to be essential for positive enhancement in citizen's perceptions regarding the quality of public service marketing on service delivery. The study was limiting only two service delivery factors therefore, it will be recommended to study numerous additional influencing elements like cost, time and communication that can be used in research in future as quality of service delivery factors.

Impact of Microfinance Services on Entrepreneurship Development: Empirical Evidence from Pokhara Valley

Microfinance plays a critical role in consumer entrepreneurship development. This study measures the impact of microfinance services on entrepreneurship development in the Pokhara valley using a sample of 320 individuals. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) are employed to assess the relationship between microfinance services and entrepreneurship development. The CFA results indicate a strong fit, aligning with the hypothesized model. Path analysis reveals significant positive associations between lending services, training and education services, and consultancy services provided by microfinance firms and entrepreneurship development. Conversely, saving services show a negative and insignificant association. These findings underscore the positive impact of certain microfinance services on entrepreneurship development, suggesting the need for policymakers and microfinance company management to prioritize the enhancement of lending, training, and consultancy services while reevaluating the effectiveness of saving services in promoting entrepreneurial endeavors.

Racial Segregation in Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner and JM Coetzee’s Disgrace

This paper makes a comparative analysis of racial discrimination faced by the characters in the novels, The Kite Runner and Disgrace. Both novels are based on non-western settings and the characters become the victim of racial segregation. British rulers first promoted racial injustice in the process of expanding colonialism. As a result, racism emerged as a dominant factor of oppression of the people by power holders. Authors, in both novels, have shown their characters victimized by racial domination. In Hosseini’s The Kite Runner, the central character, Hassan becomes the victim of ethnic oppression as Amir and Assef dominate him and force Hassan and his father leave their home. Amir and Assef belong to Pashtuns and Hassan and his father belong to Hazaras in the Muslim community. They belong to different ethnic groups and the majority group dominates minority groups. Next, they become victims of Taliban oppression and are tortured and killed mercilessly. In Coetzee’s Disgrace, the central character, David Lurie as a white professor seduces his black student, Melanie Isaac, using his predominant racial power. Next, his daughter, Lucy is raped by three black men as a byproduct of the post-apartheid era. Racial attitude has created problems in the lives of the characters as they undergo many kinds of suffering in the novels. For analyzing the novels, racism has been used as a theoretical tool to explore the problems concerning human relationships. In The Kite Runner, there is the domination of one ethnic group over another ethnic group treating them as inferior and non-human. In Disgrace, there is the domination of whites over blacks and the domination of blacks over whites. Both novels reflect that racism based on any level is a social evil caused by human relationships and it has always negative effects on society. Due to racial segregation, one group dominates another group creating social problems.

Route Dominance on Symmetric Type Transit-based Evacuation Network

The selection of dominant routes for transit-based evacuation planning problems mainly depends upon the structure and nature of the available network. To achieve efficient evacuation planning, the problem is not only on the selection of a route and a shelter for each route on the available network topology but also on the route-to-vehicle assignment and vice versa, which is more complex and challenging in real practice. The evacuation network adds complexity to the solution and impacts the problem. In this paper, the transit-based evacuation network has been revised from different perspectives focusing on the symmetric type networks with their dominant evacuation planning routes to have the minimum evacuation cost.

Real-Life Experiences of Students with Disability in Tribhuvan University: Hermeneutic Phenomenological Method

The number of students with disabilities has been increasing nowadays for higher education. Students with disabilities in universities are excluded from the research fields in Nepal although there are some researches done on school children with disabilities and people with disabilities in the family and society: college students with disabilities need to be studied. This study focuses on the lived experiences of students with disabilities while pursuing their studies at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. A hermeneutic phenomenological research method within qualitative approach was applied. A purposive sampling technique was used to select five students with disabilities in this study. The major findings are that the disabled students encountered mainly infrastructure/physical structure barriers, university policy and practice barriers, the university executives’ (un)conscious/ (un)intentional ignorance and attitude barriers while pursuing studies. The students with vision impairment and motor impairment underwent the difficulty with disable-unfriendly physical structures, university policy and practices. The hearing impaired students expressed that the usual class was not for them, and nobody was in the campus for interaction with them. The findings mean the university environments were unfriendly, hostile and adverse to the disabled students. This study may motivate the executives to modify the policy, practices and attitudes toward the disabled.

सन्की सिपाही मुक्तक कृतिमा अभिव्यक्त प्रेम पक्ष

सन्की सिपाही मुक्तककृतिमा अभिव्यक्त प्रेम पक्ष शीर्षकको प्रस्तुत अनुसन्धान लोकेन्द्र डहरेको उक्त कृतिमा सङ्गृहीत मुक्तकमा अभिव्यक्त प्रेम पक्ष कस्तो छ भन्ने मूल समस्यामा केन्द्रित छ । समस्या निराकरणका लागि सङ्ग्रहभित्रका मुक्तकमा अभिव्यक्त प्रेम पक्षको पहिचान गरी विवेचना गर्ने उद्देश्य रहेको छ । अनुसन्धानलाई पूर्णता दिन सामग्री सङ्कलनका क्रममा पुस्तकालयलाई प्रमुख स्रोत बनाइएको छ । डहरेका मुक्तकलाई प्राथमिक स्रोत मानेर आवश्यकतानुसार विभिन्न विद्वान्ले चर्चा गरेका अध्ययन–अनुसन्धान, व्याख्या–विश्लेषण, समीक्षा–समालोचनालाई द्वितीय स्रोत सामग्रीका रूपमा लिइएको छ । प्रेम पक्षमा समाहित राष्ट्रप्रेम, प्रकृतिप्रेम, मातृत्वप्रेम, भातृत्वप्रेम, शृङ्गारप्रेम, आध्यात्मिकप्रेमका सन्दर्भमा विभिन्न विद्वान्ले अगाडि सारेका चिन्तन एवम् दृष्टिकोणलाई सैद्धान्तिक आधार मानिएको छ । डहरेको व्यक्तित्व र कृतित्वको सामान्य चर्चा भए पनि प्रेम पक्षलाई आधार बनाएरै अनुसन्धान नभएकाले प्रस्तुत अनुसन्धानमा त्यसको पुष्टि गरिँदा सम्बन्धित क्षेत्रका अध्येतालाई आवश्यक पृष्ठपोषण र मार्गदर्शन प्राप्त हुने भएकाले यसको औचित्य र महत्त्व सुस्पष्ट हुन्छ । मानवीय चिन्तन तथा चेतनाका सन्दर्भलाई सरल, सहज, सरस मात्र नभएर विम्बात्मक साथै प्रतीकात्मक तरिकाले व्यक्त गरिएका मुक्तकमा प्रेम पक्षलगायतको कलात्मक अभिव्यक्ति पाइन्छ । त्यही अभिव्यक्तिमा नेपाली समाजको विगत, वर्तमानको यथार्थ र भविष्यको पाश्र्वचित्र फेला पर्दछ ।

‘सूर्य–महिमा’ कवितामा अद्वैत वेदान्त दर्शन

प्रस्तुत अनुसन्धानात्मक लेखमा लेखनाथ पौड्यालको ‘सूर्य–महिमा’ कवितामा प्रस्तुत अद्वैत वेदान्त दर्शनका मान्यताहरूको विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । यस कवितामा प्रस्तुत अद्वैत वेदान्त दर्शनका मान्यताहरूलाई दृष्टान्तमार्फत विश्लेषण गरी तथ्य निरुपण गर्नु यस अध्ययनको उद्देश्य रहेको छ । ब्रह्मसूत्रका भाष्यकारहरूमध्ये सर्वश्रेष्ठ मानिने शङ्कराचार्यको अद्वैत वेदान्त दर्शनको ब्रह्म सत्य होे र ब्रह्मबाट भिन्न केही छैन भन्ने मान्यतालाई यस कवितामा कविले प्रस्तुत गरेका छन् भन्ने निष्कर्ष दिइएको छ । यस कवितामा सूर्यलाई ब्रह्मजस्तै सत्य, नित्य, सर्वशक्तिमान्, सर्वव्यापी, स्वप्रकाश, अमर र सार्वभौमशक्तिका रूपमा प्रस्तुत गरिएको छ । सारा ब्रह्माण्डकै सृष्टि, स्थिति र लयको कारण सूर्यलाई मान्दै कवितामा प्रभु, ईश्वर र जगदीश्वर भनेर कविले ब्रह्मचिन्तन प्रस्तुत गरेका छन् । जीवन जागृत गराउने शक्ति सूर्यमा मात्र भएको देखाउँदै ब्रह्मविना कसैको अस्तित्व छैन र एक मात्र सत्य ब्रह्म हो भन्ने अद्वैत वेदान्त दर्शनको मान्यतालाई यस लेखमा निचोडको रूपमा प्रस्तुत गरिएको छ । प्रस्तुत लेख गुणात्मक ढाँचामा आधारित छ । सामग्री सङ्कलनमा पुस्तकालयीय कार्यलाई आधार मानिएको यस लेखमा सोउद्देश्यमूलक नमुना छनौट पद्धतिका माध्यमबाट अद्वैत वेदान्त दर्शनमा आधारित कविता ‘सूर्य–महिमा’ लाई छनौट गरिएको छ । अद्वैत वेदान्त दर्शनका मान्यताहरूलाई आधार मानेर कविताशंहरूलाई दृष्टान्त दिएर पाठपरक विधिमार्फत विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । कवितामा जसरी सूर्यलाई सारा विश्वब्रह्माण्डको केन्द्रभूत तत्त्व मानेर प्रस्तुत गरिएको छ, यसले यो कविता अद्वैत वेदान्त दर्शनको ब्रह्म र मोक्षसम्बन्धी चिन्तनमा आधारित रहेको स्पष्ट प्रमाणित हुन्छ ।

दिव्योपदेशको समाज भाषावैज्ञानिक विश्लेषण

दिव्योपदेशको समाज भाषावैज्ञानिक विश्लेषण’ शीर्षकको यो आलेख समाज भाषावैज्ञानिक सिद्धान्तको पृष्ठभूमिमा दिव्योपदेशको विश्लेषण गर्ने उद्देश्यले तयार गरिएको हो । पृथ्वीनारायण शाहले भाइभारदारहरूलाई दरबारमा बोलाई राज्यसञ्चालनका लागि आवश्यक पर्ने नीति तथा सुझाव समेटेर दिएको मार्गदर्शनलाई ‘दिव्योपदेश’ (१८३१) भनिन्छ । आलेख तयार पार्ने सन्दर्भमा मूलतः पुस्तकालयीय कार्यको उपयोग गरी सङ्कलन गरिएका प्राथमिक तथा द्वितीयक स्रोतका सामग्रीहरूको अध्ययनबाट प्राप्त तथ्यलाई तर्क, प्रमाण÷साक्ष्य र दृष्टान्तका आधारमा पुष्टि गरिएको छ । आवश्यक ठाउँमा पूर्वअध्येताहरूसँग छलफल वा संवाद गर्दै आलेखलाई पूर्णता दिइएको हो । समाज भाषाविज्ञानको सैद्धान्तिक धरातलमा रहेर दिव्योपदेशको विश्लेषण गर्दा शब्दस्रोत, ऐतिहासिकता, शैली, प्रयोजनपरकता, धर्मसंस्कृति, भाषाद्वैत सूक्तिमयता र ध्वनिपरिवर्तन आदि चल (आधार) लाई आधार मानिएको छ । उक्त चलका आधारमा विश्लेषण गर्दा दिव्योपदेशको भाषा केही जटिल, चोखो, मिठो र प्रभावकारी देखिन्छ । शाहले आफ्ना भाइभारदारहरूलाई राजनीति, युद्धनीति, अर्थनीति, परराष्ट्रनीति, व्यापारनीति, देशप्रेमनीति, कृषिनीति आदिका बारेमा महत्त्वपूर्ण उपदेश दिएका छन् । दिव्योपदेशमा व्यक्त विचारहरू समसामयिक, ओजपूर्ण र प्रभावशाली छन् । यस्तो महत्त्वपूर्ण कृतिको समाज भाषावैज्ञानिक विश्लेषण भएको पाइँदैन । तसर्थ यस आलेखमा त्यही रिक्ततालाई पूर्णता दिँदै वर्तमानका पाठकलाई आकर्षित गर्ने गरी भाषिक अनुशीलन गरिएको छ । विचार र विषयवस्तुका दृष्टिले उत्कृष्ट दिव्योपदेशको भाषा मानक नेपाली नभएर मध्यकालीन नेपालीको कथ्य रूपमा छ । ऐतिहासिक भाषा वा कथ्य रूपलाई मानक रूपमा प्रस्तुत गर्दै अर्थ पनि दिइएकाले यो आलेखको औचित्य पुष्टि हुन्छ । समाजशास्त्रीय कोणबाट पनि बलियो रहेको दिव्योपदेशलाई यहाँ समाज भाषाविज्ञानका चलहरूका आधारमा विश्लेषण गरी समसामयिक महत्त्व रहेको निष्कर्ष निकालिएको छ ।

प्रस्तुत लेख ध्रुवचन्द्र गौतमद्वारा लिखित स्वर्गीय हीरादेवीको खोज उपन्यासको अस्तित्ववादी जीवनदृष्टिको मूलभूत मान्यता भविताका कोणबाट गरिने विश्लेषणमा केन्द्रित रहेको छ । स्वर्गीय हीरादेवीको खोज उपन्यासमा अस्तित्ववादी भविताको अभिव्यक्ति कसरी भएको छ भन्ने समस्या समाधान गर्ने उद्देश्यले यो लेख तयार पारिएको हो । यथास्थितिलाई अवलम्बन गरी पतनतिर लाग्ने वा आफू बन्नाका लागि स्वयम् सक्रिय बन्ने भन्ने मान्यता अस्तित्ववादी भवितासँग सम्बन्धित रहेको छ । विवेच्य उपन्यासमा अस्तित्ववादी जीवनदृष्टिको अभिव्यक्ति भएको छ भन्ने कुराको जानकारी पूर्वकार्यको अध्ययनबाट भए पनि भविताका कोणबाट गरिने अध्ययनको रिक्तता रहेकाले यस अध्ययनको सान्दर्भिकता देखिएको छ । तसर्थ अस्तित्ववादी भविताको मर्मअनुरूप निर्मित उपकरणहरू जीवनजगत्प्रतिको स्वाभाविकता, रिक्तताको बोध र अस्तित्वका लागि सक्रियतालाई आधार बनाई उपन्यासको विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । बहुसत्यमा आधारित गुणात्मक प्रकृतिको यस अध्ययनमा तत्त्वमीमांसा, ज्ञानमीमांसा र मूल्यमीमांसाका बिचमा समन्वय स्थापित गरिएको छ । पाठविश्लेषण पद्धतिको अवलम्बन गरिएको यस अध्ययनका लागि आवश्यक पर्ने सामग्री पुस्तकालय र ईपुस्तकालयबाट सङ्कलन गरिएको छ । अस्तित्ववादी भविताका कोणबाट विवेच्य उपन्यासको अध्ययन गरिएकाले निगमनात्मक अध्ययनविधि अवलम्बन यस अध्ययनमा गरिएको छ । यस उपन्यासका अस्तित्वशील पात्रले जड भविताबाट माथि उठी अस्तित्वका लागि सङ्घर्ष गर्दा आइपरेका समस्याको सामना गर्न तयार भएका तर सम्झौता र आत्मसमर्पण गर्ने पलायनवादी चिन्तनबाट अलग रहेका छन् भन्ने निष्कर्ष यस अध्ययनबाट निकालिएको छ ।

‘कार्निभल’ कथासङ्ग्रहमा अभिव्यक्त मूल स्वर

प्रस्तुत ‘कार्निभल’ कथासङ्ग्रहमा अभिव्यक्त मूल स्वर’ शीर्षकको आलेख मूल स्वरका दृष्टिले कथासङ्ग्रहको विश्लेषण गर्ने उद्देश्यले तयार पारिएको हो । ‘कार्निभल’ (२०७६) कथाकार भूमिराज बस्ताकोटीद्वारा लेखिएका १२ वटा कथाहरूको सङ्ग्रह हो । आलेख तयार पार्ने सन्दर्भमा मूलतः पुस्तकालय कार्यको उपयोग गरी सङ्कलन गरिएका प्राथमिक र द्वितीयक स्रोतका सामग्रीहरूको अध्ययनबाट प्राप्त तथ्यलाई तर्क, प्रमाण/साक्ष्य र उदाहरणका आधारमा पुष्टि गरिएको छ । आवश्यक ठाउँमा पूर्वअध्येताहरूसँग संवाद वा छलफल गर्दै तुलना र भिन्नता छुट्याउने कामसमेत गरिएको छ । मूल स्वरलाई केन्द्रमा राखेर कथाहरूको अध्ययन र विश्लेषणका क्रममा विनिर्माण, यौन मनोविज्ञान, सामाजिक विकृति र विसङ्गतिप्रति असन्तुष्टि, पर्यावरणीय चेत र पशुअधिकार, नारीवादी स्वर नै मूल स्वरका रूपमा देखा परेका छन् । आधुनिक र उत्तरआधुनिक भावधारा र शैलीको उपयोग गरी लेखिएका कथाहरू स्वरका दृष्टिले उत्कृष्ट नै देखिन्छन् । यति भएर पनि बौद्धिकता र तार्किकताले थिचिएका कतिपय प्रयोगशील कथाहरू भावसम्प्रेषणका दृष्टिले जटिल बन्न पुगेका छन् भने छोटा आयामका कथाहरूमा घटनाको अस्वाभाविक विकास र तीव्रताले कथाको मूल मर्ममा चोट पुगेको छ । आयामका दृष्टिले मौनकोट, कार्निभल कथा थोरै लामा देखिए पनि संक्षिप्तताभित्र पूर्णताको खोजीका साथ रचना गरिएको ‘कार्निभल’ कथासङ्ग्रह भावसघनता र स्वरका कोणबाट उत्कृष्ट देखापर्दछ ।
