Dalit communities are considered as economically backward ethnic caste group in Nepal. The article is based on the field study carried out in Dhading district of Bagmati Province. The guiding theoretical framework of the study is the anthropology of disaster focusing on resilience through holistic approach to reveal undermining of local contexts in reconstruction of private houses. The methodological approach consists of qualitative research tools supplemented by household census.

As part of earthquake resilient house construction, the government of Nepal provided cash grant support to the families with severely damaged houses. Such families identified as red card holders. Findings of the study clearly reveal that the cash support is not enough to address the local social and cultural needs of Dalits in construction of houses. There is heterogeneity in Dalit communities in terms of social cultural bonding, social relations, and economic status. The cash support in the lump sum basis under the blanket policy approach regardless of household income, family background, and economic status hardly address the local contexts. Most importantly, the construction process highly concentrated on building of house structures in the prescribed standards of the government focusing on technical engineering rather than accommodation of local settings and needs.
2023-10-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Namuna Academic Journal https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/naj/article/view/58798 A Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis of AIML Experience in Banks 2023-09-25T15:17:53+00:00 Sashi Upadhaya namunasouvenir@gmail.com Jibit Khanal namunasouvenir@gmail.com
The prime concern of this research article is to engender the existing knowledge, trends and gaps in AIML in bank domains. Additionally, the article focuses on the applications of PSALSAR framework for conducting systematic literature review and meta- analysis of artificial intelligence (machine- learning) adoption in banks. Under the PSALSAR (Protocol, Screening, Appraisal, Synthesizing, Analysis and Reporting) framework PICOC (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome and Context) method is also used to define the research scope. Although meta- analysis is useful for both the qualitative and quantitative content analysis, only the qualitative aspects are considered in this research article.
Khatiwada biplavnitesh2070@gmail.com
2023-10-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/naj/article/view/58799 Disappearing Dalit Haruwa-Charuwa labor in Tarai Agriculture: Causes and Consequences of Land Fragmentation 2023-09-25T15:23:06+00:00 Kumar Ghimire namunasouvenir@gmail.com
This research is conducted in Tarai agriculture practice in Baijanathpur village of Morang District in eastern Tarai to explore why Haruwa-Charuwa labor has been disappearing from Tarai agricultural works? It is based on qualitative historical methodology; field observation, key informant and life history interview method to collect reliable and valid data from field. This study manifested the problem why Dalit labor has disappeared in agriculture and how they are getting survive without proper livelihood opportunity. It has signified to acknowledge that Tarai is changing its agriculture structure in its relation of labor disappearing from agriculture works. After the continuation of change and development in Tarai (migration, population growth, technology), agriculture could not consume enough labor power, so that, Dalit Haruwa-Charuwa labor has been facing job scarcity and livelihood problem due to causes of land fragmentation. This study provides a deeper conceptual understanding linkage between land fragmentation and consequence of farm labor declining in rural Tarai and investigates this relationship empirically.
2023-10-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Namuna Academic Journal https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/naj/article/view/58800 Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Performance in Nepalese Banks 2023-09-25T15:38:36+00:00 Pradeep K.C. namunasouvenir@gmail.com
The discourse over the issues concerning to Emotional Intelligence and organizational performance had and has presently been in interaction in various nations of the globe. The purposes of this paper are to assess the status of EI and OP in Nepalese Banks and to analyze the relationship between EI and OP. The research approach is quantitative, research design is descriptive and analytical too, and population is 47 Nepalese Commercial and development Banks. Structured questionnaire was designed to collect primary data through convenience sampling technique with five-point Likert scale. SPSS was used to manage and analyze data. Mean and Standard Deviations are used to assess the status of EI and OP, Pearson Correlation Matrix and Linear Regression Analysis to test relations and level of significance between variables, Chronbatch alpha to test reliability of constructs,. The research is able to find out that both EI and OP are well present in the Nepalese banking. This research paper shows that an employee with high EI has a high OP. Most of the constructs of EI have a significant relationship with OP.
2023-10-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Namuna Academic Journal https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/naj/article/view/58801 Consumption Behaviors and Awareness of fast food among the Young Generation: An Empirical Study on Hostel Living Students in Kathmandu Valley 2023-09-25T15:43:48+00:00 Mithu Regmi namunasouvenir@gmail.com
This research aims to study the fast-food habits of the young generation, who are staying in hostels. It intends to study the role of parents and advertisement regarding on consumption behaviours and awareness of fast food. Food is considered as an important representation of all social groups. Although the trend has changed, its impacts exist on the whole society, whether it belongs to the lower middle class or elite class. Fast food is considered as easy to make and ready to eat, so in present days, the young generation is attracted to fast food outlets as hanging places with friends in search of new tastes and places. Hostel life is entirely different and independent from the in-home, especially in terms of food eating. Keeping this view in mind, this research was conducted in two hostels in Kathmandu metropolitan city. This is qualitative research. Based on my research I argue that there is a link between food, parents’ roles, behaviors pattern of hostellers, and advertising.
2023-10-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Namuna Academic Journal https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/naj/article/view/58810 Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Academic Achievement in Secondary Education in Nepal 2023-09-26T12:48:04+00:00 Yogendra Thapa namunasouvenir@gmail.com
The capacity to recognize, utilize, comprehend, control, and handle one's own and other people's emotions is known as emotional intelligence (EI). Higher EI holders effectively handle them and work efficiently. Yet, in Nepali practice, nothing has been done to identify pupils' EI. Objective of this study is to determine how emotional intelligence (EI) affects academic success in higher education. Secondary school students in grades 11 and 12 continued to be the study's primary target group. AS a sample, 486 of them were chosen at random from the group of pupils. Students from three districts and two provinces were chosen in equal numbers. To determine the impact of emotional intelligence, the Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT) and SEE result were adopted. The ANOVA test was applied to determine the impact of EI on academic attainment. EI and academic achievement have a statistically significant relationship. Yet not all areas have a big impact on academic achievement. For instance, the capacity to use and manage one's own emotions has a significant influence on academic achievement; meanwhile the ability to recognize and manage other people's emotions has little effect on participants' academic performance. While more research is needed to fully understand the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement, the evidence suggests that emotional intelligence may play an important role in academic success.
2023-10-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Namuna Academic Journal https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/naj/article/view/58811 Rice and its Multiple Identities: A Discursive Study of Paddy Cultivation in Nepal and Himalaya 2023-09-26T12:54:19+00:00 Damodar Tripathi namunasouvenir@gmail.com
This paper encounters the problem of the identity of rice and paddy farmers in Nepal and in the Himalayan region. It examines discursive practices in three different regimes of knowledge that constitute rice and paddy cultivation in Nepal and the Himalayas; mythological, socio-cultural, and Techno-political. For the analysis, it has brought descriptions of materials from the comprehensive compendium on ‘Rice Sciences and Technology in Nepal’, (2017). The compendium is the major source of materials or ‘corpus of the statement’ in relation to each of the domains of knowledge in paddy cultivation for analysis. The analysis exposes the meanings and identities of rice and paddy farmers and farmers’ positions in each of the regimes. This paper argues that the contemporary discourse of rice/paddy cultivation is dominated by the techno-political regime of knowledge which has specific implications for the production of the identity of rice and paddy farmers. Furthermore, this mediation reproduces rice as a commodity to sell in the open market and paddy farmers as the passive recipients of the information and skills from the modern agriculture agencies like the state, scientists, media, and agro-companies. It utilizes Foucauldian Discourse Analysis (FDA) method while approaching the different domains of knowledge. The argument is based on the ‘non-essentialist’ theory within the anthropological framework of political ecology as proposed by a senior post-modern anthropologist Arturo Escobar.
2023-10-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Namuna Academic Journal https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/naj/article/view/58812 Globalization, Citizenship and Subjectivity : An Analysis of the Changes in the Last Four Generations 2023-09-26T12:59:46+00:00 Sunita Raut namunasouvenir@gmail.com
Globalization is the process of connecting the world without any barrier and boarder. Particularly this process is impacting our society, culture, economy, polity, people’s thought, and everyday life. Globalization incorporates, integrates and diffuses all the human and non-human activities in all over the world without any boarder. Similarly, this process constructs, reconstructs, shapes and reshapes the citizen’s attributes, experiences, ideas, feeling, belief, expectation, perception, thoughts and socio-cultural understanding of the individual relating with respective community. In this article, the author tries to analyze interlink of globalization, citizenship and subjectivity with researcher’s family history and stories of close relatives. And also seeks the answer of the question that how people’s subjectivities have changed over the periods, in one generation to another? Additionally, this study provides insight not only into the author's family, but also into the comparative historical antecedents of Nepali society, and how its own subjectivity was shaped, molded, and influenced by globalization with the state-building and changing process.
2023-10-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Namuna Academic Journal
