The variation of displacement fields has been estimated by considering the elastic half-space in contact with traction free boundary and varying depth, distance from top to bottom of the fault. It is also carried out in an infinite elastic medium. Also, the variation of displacement fields with the distance from fault especially for strike slip fault shows that even if different fault length and approximately equal magnitudes, the variation of displacement fields with the distance from the fault is almost the same in the case of great earthquakes viz. San Francisco (1906) and Bihar-Nepal (1934).
Ramhit Yadav Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 1 12 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52064 Practice and Challenges of Online Science Teaching at Higher Education During COVID-19 Pandemic https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52065
The education system is adversely affected by COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal. This study particularly focused to find the existing ICT competencies of science teachers in online teaching-learning and challenges faced to teach during COVID-19. The study followed the quantitative descriptive research design in which all teachers of science of constituent and affiliated campuses of Siraha that run science and technology and science education were selected through census method. A total of 36 science teachers were selected from 3 campuses, one constituent, two affiliated campuses. Closed and structured questionnaires were also used for the collection of data. The obtained data were interpreted by using statistical tools like percentage, mean, standard deviation, correlation, significance through spearman's rho rank order correlation coefficient, bivariate analysis between independent and dependent variables by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20.The result showed that almost all teachers had basic requirement of ICT tools and their operating knowledge. One-third had ICT training/ certificate of ICT but only below 20 percentages really practiced it in teaching-learning. The traditional concept of physical mode of teaching, ICT infrastructures, poor ICT capacity, lack of incentives and in adequate ICT friendly environment are major challenges for effective online teaching.
Rajeswer Prasad Yadav Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 13 28 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52065 Impact of Corona Virus Disease-19 on Mental Health of Adolescent Students https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52066
A communicable disease, caused by a recently detected severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus2 (SARS-CoV-2), corona virus disease-19 (COVID-19)pandemic is rapidly increasing across the globe, creating range of psychological impact including panic disorder, stress, anxiety and depression. The objective of this paper is to describe the impact of COVID-19 on mental health of students based on anxiety and depression. The study followed descriptive survey design. Total 51 students of class 9 and 10 of Chhinnamasta-3 Saptari were selected for study. Interview schedule that contained items from General Anxiety Disorder-7 scale and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 were used to collect data. Simple descriptive statistics like percentage mean and T test, Pearson's ‘r’ test and Spearman's ‘rho’ test were applied to analyse the data. All students had some level of anxiety and depression. There was no significant difference between the mean score of anxiety and depression among boys and girls. It is suggested that psychological counselling should be immediately provided to respondents.
Anil Kumar Mandal Chun Chun Yadav Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 29 42 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52066 Perception of Political Science Education Teachers Towards Professional Development https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52067
This paper aims to analyse how the Political Science Education teachers perceive professional development. Similarly this study has focused on the different experience in teaching professionalism and its influence in teaching-learning process. but, in here, teachers perceived the teaching profession as a well respected one and looked at it as a low grade profession and they are only teaching, till they get an opportunity for a more lucrative job. Participants emphasised to make common consensus that Society plays a crucial role in steering reinforcement from Society towards the profession; it motivates the teachers to develop themselves professionally. There are always the few people that don't and will not see the profession as a respectable one but teachers required to look past these, and try to understand the gravity of the responsibility entrusted upon them.
Binod Kumar Yadav Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 43 52 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52067 Differential Equations of Motion of the Particle https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52145
This paper deals with linearized and normalized differential equations of relative motion of the system under the influence of magnetic force air resistance and oblateness of the earth in Nechvill's co-ordinate system. We have linearized the problem keeping in view that the length of the string connecting the two satellites is infinitesimally small in comparison to the distance of centre of mass of the system from the centre of attracting force and introduction of rotating frame of reference eliminates the product terms as usual. We have obtained a system of six orders non-autonomous, non-linear equations of motion describe the motion of one of two satellites and the motion of satellite relative to the first may easily be obtained by m1ρ1 + m2ρ2 = 0
Uday Kumar Karn Sushil Chandra Karna Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 53 66 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52145 Exploring Science Learning through Arts-based Sketches and Photos: A Transformative Paradigm https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52146
The study reconnoitres arts-based learning by the use of sketches and photos of basic level students and science teachers. It was accompanied in the basic level public schools of Kirtipur municipality of Kathmandu district. The study explores how the use of sketches and photos promotes students science learning and also designs an appropriate strategy for engaged learning. A qualitative research design was used based on the interpretive paradigm in which data are collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. The data were analysed through verbatim and thematic approaches. The study found the use of arts-based learning like sketches and photos helps to learn science that develops creativity and communication. It was also found that science teachers used sketches and photos linked to the prescribed curriculum while teaching and learning science. It is recommended that the application of sketches and photos would be beneficial for science learning. For this, science curricula and textbooks have to incorporate the techniques of arts-based concept learning in the public schools in Nepal.
Kamal Prasad Acharya Milan Acharya Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 67 80 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52146 Michel Foucault's Theory and its Educational Implication for Science Learning in the Nepalese Context https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52148
This paper focuses on the concept of discourse, power, reflective practise and construction of knowledge and its importance for non-positivist research in the postcolonial era to empower learners. At the same time, different concepts of discourse, power, reflective practise and construction of knowledge are used to recognise their choice clearly. This paper, therefore, aims to clarify the conceptual basis of working with discourses, power, reflective practises and knowledge construction based on the philosophical roots of social theory in the research in the present context of science teaching Foucault theory can be applied to develop the capacity to critique their traditional materialistic reality learning approaches and empower science students to learn science through discourse, seminar, fieldwork and project work to retain the potential for reflectivity and critical argument; and reconfigure being contextual of Nepalese scenario.
Kamal Prasad Koirala Gem Prasad Gurung Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 81 90 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52148 Effect of Ethanol on Critical Micelle Concentration of Sodium Dodecylsulphate in Mixed Solvent Media at 308.15K by Conductometric Measurement https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52151
The conductivity measurement of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS)in mixed solvent media was investigated. The results indicated that sharp increase with the increase in concentration and temperature of sodium dodecyl sulphate the critical micelle concentration (CMC) decreased with the amount of ethanol increase which can be explained based on the nature of solvent mixed media and inter ionic attraction of ions. The graph of conductance versus concentration is used to determine the critical micelle concentration (CMC).
Chandradip Kumar Yadav Brahamdeo Yadav Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 91 102 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52151 Kumal Children Schooling: History, Culture and Parents' Perception https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52152
This paper aims to analyse how history, culture and parents’ perception influenced childrens’ schooling. In the context of Nepal, cultural values and norms are deeply rooted in society. So this study explores how involving children in cultural activities hampers their schooling. The study is based on field data and I organised this study into three key themes, history and tradition of Kumal people, cultural influence in Kumal children schooling and Kumal parents’ perception towards children schooling.
Hikamat Bahadur Khatri Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 103 110 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52152 Effect of Poverty on Students' Participation in the Class at Community Schools in Nepal https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52154
To analyse the effect of poverty on households towards class participation at community schools is the main objective of this study. A cross-sectional survey is conducted within two districts among five hundred thirty students adopting random sampling. Data on class participation are collected from semi structured survey questionnaires and analysed using bivariate and multivariate analysis with help of Stata 14. It is found that poverty hinders involvement in academic activities and managing learning facilities. Parents with poverty have been involved in nonacademic activities and are unable to manage the academic home environment. As a result their children were irregular and absent, and they were involved in nonacademic activities, which are more favourable for the poverty zone except for extracurricular activities. By addressing students’ diversity and local context, students living in poverty may have done better class participation.
Yogendra Thapa Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 111 124 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52154 Ashwathama Natyakavya in Creative Context https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52155
Critical contexts of lyrical poem ‘Ashwathama’ of lyricist Madhab Ghimire is presented in this article being full of poetic mood, the poet Ghimire has expressed the life consciousness and philosophical thinking of adulthood in this lyrical poem. Being full conscious, he has shown that the common place of people is alarming including injustice, tyranny, repression, exploitation, oppression, murder, violence, infanticide, feticide, abuse of power, degradation of human value in the world. It has expressed the need of peoples’ consciousness as the result of such criminal acts should be faced by people themselves and it aims to raise awareness of world and sufferings of people. Primary and secondary sources were used and library work, descriptive and analytical methods were used to analyse data. The main message of this poem is the sense of world brotherhood, brotherhood, mutual harmony, inspiration and ideology after the end of world war.
Devsharan Yadav Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 125 132 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52155 Nepali Educational Grammar: Theory and Practice https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52156
Although efforts are being made by domestic and foreign writers, it lacks standard level wise Nepali grammar. Therefore, the main goal of it is to develop standard level wise Nepali grammar by keeping standard grammatical contents regarding level. Primary and secondary sources were used to collect data, and qualitative analysis was performed through library work, comparative method and descriptive method. In various grammar studies alphabets, letters, syllable structure, word class, gender, number, person, tense, aspect, sense, voice, negative and positive, vocabulary, sentence difference, spelling, causative verb, idioms and definitional words are included. There is no clear boundary for grammar in different levels such as lower secondary Nepali grammar. Secondary Nepali grammar and expression, compulsory Nepali for proficiency level, higher secondary Nepali grammar and expression, and graduate level (301). It seems there is uncertainty rather than uniformity during teaching-learning. Therefore, particularly Nepali grammar should be developed to get rid of such situation and to compensate its lack.
Ramdeo Mandal Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1 133 140 10.3126/oas.v1i1.52156 Editorial Vol.1(1) https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/oas/article/view/52063
No abstract available.
Anil Kumar Mandal Devsharan Yadav Ramdeo Mandal Copyright (c) 2022 Research Management Cell (RMC), Suryanarayan Satyanarayan Morbaita Yadav Multiple Campus (SSMYMC) Siraha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2022-12-31 2022-12-31 1 1
