About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Shodhmala journal of Magar Studies Center is an academic, peer-reviewed journal of research & development focused on Magar and indigenous communities. It aims to explore current issues and opportunities on indigenous minorities in Nepal and all over the world, an authentic, open-access platform featuring scholarly research reviews and perspectives on the state of current research topics, especially on Magar and indigenous communities. The "Shodhmala" journal has been publishing since 2062 BS. Concentrating on varieties of thematic areas of Magar and indigenous minorities, and its 10th journal volume, published, was the last one.

Mission

The MSC is dedicated to preserving and promoting indigenous knowledge and practices, culture, languages, and heritage through research, education, cross-cultural understanding, and community engagement for empowerment and holistic development.

Vision

The Magar Studies Centre (MSC) envisions uplifting the status and condition of the Magar indigenous communities.

Key Objectives

  • Preserve and revitalize languages by documenting historical, archaeological, and cultural anthropological research, as well as ethnographic and socioeconomic studies, including the publication and dissemination of knowledge.
  • Pursue corporate sponsorships and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships, establishing endowment or fund mechanisms to ensure long-term financial stability and leverage digital and media platforms to support these initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration with Magar organizations, establishing national and international research networks, and engage with government & policy institutions to promote and encourage intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogue.
  • Strengthen institutional structure and capacity by ensuring transparent and accountable governance and establishing strong leadership and management systems.
  • Promote knowledge management and documentation by implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) systems.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Peer Review Process

The journal uses double-blind peer review. Review time is 6-8 weeks (approximately).

Research and review articles received from open call and individual invitation are peer-reviewed and double-blind before publication. The Editor-in-Chief sends original research and review articles to the Editors for initial review of the work’s relevance to the journal. They submit draft decisions to the Editor-in-Chief for final decision about further review or rejection. The initial review process will be short and not last longer than three weeks. These are not subject to double blind peer review. The name or Reviewer board displayed will be contacted for assistance to search expert in the same area, and may also be requested to review. It consists of 6 levels of review, including editorial and blind peer review, as follows:

Level One: Checking paper structure.

Level Two: Checking and detailed checking plagiarism (Less than 10%, No paragraph should have half to full paragraph plagiarism). Also, check for a unique title by searching the title in Google, Google Scholar, and a plagiarism checker.

Level Three: Checking grammar and typographic mistakes using Integrated Grammar software.

Level Four: Checking review of methods, format, title, keywords, tables and figures, and citations.

Level Five: Review of analysis/ results/ novelty, further improvements, journal to be considered, area, type, thorough double blind peer review.

Level Six: After journal formatting, DOI, checking page numbers, glancing on PDF before final publication by the editor and author proof-reading.
