Leading Hybrid Intelligence: Toward a New Leadership Paradigm for Human–AI Organizations

Abstract

Purpose: This study proposes Hybrid Intelligence Leadership (HIL) as a new leadership paradigm for Human–AI Organizations by addressing the limitations of existing leadership theories in AI-enabled workplaces.

Design/Methodology/Approach: A conceptual research approach was employed through a critical review and synthesis of literature on leadership, socio-technical systems, complexity leadership, and hybrid intelligence to develop a conceptual framework and theoretical propositions.

Findings: The study identifies five core dimensions of Hybrid Intelligence Leadership—AI orchestration, ethical stewardship, human–AI trust, adaptive decision-making, and collective intelligence development. The proposed framework demonstrates how these dimensions foster innovation, organizational resilience, employee flourishing, and sustainable organizational performance.

Originality/Value: The study introduces Hybrid Intelligence Leadership as a novel theoretical framework that extends leadership theory beyond traditional human-centric perspectives and provides a foundation for future empirical research on Human–AI Organizations.
