Professor Dr. Sara Parker is a well-known academic at Liverpool John Moores University in the UK, where she serves as Professor of Collaborative Action Research. Her career spans more than three decades of engagement with Nepal, focusing on issues of gender, education, and social justice. She has led significant international projects such as Dignity Without Danger, which explored menstrual stigma and taboos in Nepal. Fluent in Nepali, she has conducted long-term fieldwork and built strong collaborations
with Nepali activists, scholars, and policymakers, making her research both academically rigorous and socially impactful. Her work on menstrual health activism has been influential in shaping both scholarship and policy. Beyond gender studies, she has also contributed to research on fair trade, aging and health policy, and children’s rights to education during conflict. Through these efforts, Professor Parker has demonstrated how collaborative action research can bridge academic inquiry with practical activism, advancing knowledge while promoting social change. The Dhaulagiri Journal of Sociology and Anthropology extends its sincere gratitude to Professor Parker for her generous and thoughtful engagement in answering the written questions prepared for this interview
