Abstract

This manuscript reviews the different cases of estrus and ovulation during pregnancy in domestic animals and concludes that during the luteal phase when the progesterone level decreases to inter mediate level in the plasma enough to maintain pregnancy but not enough to suppress LH pulse leading to maturation of dominant follicle, increases estradiole production enough to cause estrus, not enough to terminate pregnancy but enough to maintain pregnancy. It is suggested to diagnose true estrus against gestational estrus to rule out undesirable effects on pregnancy and prevent economic losses.
