Abstract

Metlaline (1), piyaline (2), piyaline methyl ester (3), a pair of diasteriomeric epimers of marsuposide (4a and 4b), and pterostilbene (5) were isolated from the water soluble fraction of 70% MeOH extract of Pterocarpus marsupium (Roxb.) heartwood. Among them compound 3 was isolated for the first time from natural source. Pterostilbene has been found as antioxidant, anti-diabetic and anti-cancer agent.
