Thematic Review on Economic Cost, Benefit Analysis of Hydropower Projects

Abstract

While taking investment decisions on hydropower projects cost and benefit analysis (CBA) is important technique. It was started from United Kingdom for transportation sector later on it is used widely in mega projects all over the world.CBA contributes to identify all relevant benefits and costs and provides tools to quantify in monetary value. The CBA measurement variables defers from country to country on the basis of geography, population, natural resources, technology, market etc. This article aims to present a conceptual frame work to select a hydropower project and its viability. Basically in developing countries like Nepal this frame work plays important role in selecting particular hydropower projects.
